Please note that Cineware by Maxon only works with Unreal Engine 5.0 and beyond and requires Cinema 4D 2023.0 and beyond. 

The Cineware by Maxon plugin allows you to import Cinema 4D files quickly and easily into Unreal Engine by translating .c4d files via Datasmith into the Unreal Engine, generating the scene on-the-fly, eliminating the need for Cineware caches. Thanks to the flexibility this offers, there's a new option to modify Cinema 4D attributes directly within the Unreal Editor.

Cineware by Maxon has received a significant update that focuses on improving the seamless import of Cinema 4D files directly into Unreal Engine. This new feature allows users to import Redshift Materials while maintaining a smooth experience and excellent fidelity.

Technical Details

Cineware by Maxon currently supports:

  • Redshift Materials rudimentary support
  • Import / Reimport while not overwriting changes made in Unreal
  • Animations (transforms and render visibility)
  • StaticMeshes
  • GeometryCaches (import any PSR or morph animation)
  • Materials
  • Lights
  • Cameras (ISO, shutter speed, F-stop, aspect ratio)

Known Issues

  • Some inconsistencies when importing materials
